Going the Extra Mile with Your Business Card Design
Your business card design - much like your entrepreneurial skills - should theoretically know no bounds.
If you cringe at the thought of handing out plain white business cards printed on your everyday run-of-the-mill paper, you should know that there are alternatives.
Of course, there will always be financial limitations in both cases. However, if you have built a reputation for yourself that far exceeds those of your competitors, why not have a business card that goes that extra mile as well.
Thanks to today's modern technology, it is possible to imprint, embed and even carve your contact information on almost any surface imaginable: anything from wood, plastic, metal, magnets and glass to golf course grass clippings.
The point of all this, however, isn't simply to throw your money away for the sake of being different. It has to make sense with your business image. Therefore, you need to first figure out just what it is you want your business card to shout out to all those potential clients.
If the goal is to match your company's ingenuity with a savvy business card, than get those creative juices flowing.
Of course, the main advantage of printing non-traditional business cards is that you are far more likely to make a great first impression on clients. A plastic business card, for example, is sure to get anybody's attention, which means those business cards are more likely to be kept rather than just discarded or overlooked.
It's also important to keep in mind that cards that are printed on durable materials (such as metal or plastic) are not only more likely to be held onto and outlast their paper counterparts, but that they symbolically translate the sense that your business will do the same. And we all know how important longevity is in the world of business.
What's more, a non-traditional business card design can also help your business by becoming instrumental in it.
If you are in a rock band and decide to print your business cards on peel-and-stick paper, then you are encouraging clients to stick your business card somewhere where other people can see it: a notebook or a bumper, for example. And that will bring you way more exposure then just having your business card sit in a filing cabinet.
In the long run, cutting edge business card design can ultimately outweigh the added costs of going down such a route.
