Double Sided or Nothing
In today's cutting-edge business world, settling on a one-sided business card is a lot like betting the jackpot with a pair of sevens. While it is true that these business cards will provide your prospective client with your company logo and all your pertinent contact information, there's no telling how long he or she will actually hold on to it.
The only way to ensure that your business card stays in your client's Rolodex and not in the pile reserved for his paper shredder is to give that business card some kind of inherent use or value beyond a basic point of contact.
The sad truth is that most entrepreneurs fail to grasp the full potential of full color , double-sided business cards and the myriad of possibilities that come with putting that extra card real estate to use.
What you decide to put on the back of your business card is really up to you. Your first concern, however, is ensuring that your prospective client knows that he or she is getting that added bonus. To do this, most double-sided business cards will include the simple abbreviation P.T.O (please turn over) or the equally enticing "Flip this card over for a pleasant surprise," - provided you have the space on the front of the card, of course.
Once that's done, the sky is really the limit on what you can include on the backside of your business card. Some entrepreneurs have been known to include interesting company facts and quirky statistics on their particular field of work. Others prefer the rather pragmatic approach of adding valuable rebates that effectively force clients to hold on to them. After all, no one can resist a deal.
The easiest way to do this is to turn your business card into a valuable coupon or punch card - the latter being a great way to ensure frequent clients. More imaginative methods can include printing up quick surveys on the back of your business cards which, when answered, can then be redeemed for some type of free gift or discount.
Ultimately, practicality and originality are your two biggest weapons. The one question you should be asking yourself is this: "What was the most useful business card I ever received and why have I held on to it to this very day?" Chances are it will have been a full-colored, double-sided business card. After all, why settle for two pairs when you can have the Full House.
