Greetings to a Great New Marketing Tool
Greetings to a great new marketing tool
In North American culture, nothing says 'I care' like a greeting card.
Whether you are wishing a young couple a happy marriage, celebrating your uncle's 25 th anniversary or hoping for a friend's speedy recovery from a scary car accident, greeting cards have become an easy and effective way to show friends and family that we are thinking about them.
Now, with postcard marketing becoming more popular in the business world, many companies are starting to use greeting cards to stay close to their clients and nurture their business relations.
Obviously, there is a limit to how personal any type of postcard marketing can be. The last thing you want to be doing is sending a personal greeting every time one of your clients has a marriage or a birthday in the family. That would be ridiculous and could actually come across as a cynical way of trying to secure their business.
However, there are tactful ways in which greeting cards can be used to remind your clients, customers and employees that you haven't forgot them and value their friendship and business.
One of the best ways to do this is to keep a master list or database on all your clients and customer's birthdays. Although this may seem like a huge undertaking at first, sending a simple postcard or greeting card to a client on his or her birthday is a very effective way to show them they aren't just simple dollar signs; an important step in building relationships that will last.
Of course, greeting card design and content will obviously vary depending on who is on the receiving end and how long you have known them. This is something you will have to consider before you go ahead and print your postcards or greeting cards.
An effective strategy might be to print two sets of greeting cards: A more professional greeting card emblazoned with the company logo and a standard message or greeting for new clients, and more personal greeting card for those customers and employees who you have known for a number of years or interact with on a regular basis.
This will ensure that in either case, the recipient will not feel like they are receiving a generic greeting card that doesn't accurately reflect their relationship with you or your company. Making sure all messages and signatures are handwritten also helps.
After all, when it comes to postcard marketing, the last thing you want is for your customers to feel like they are receiving mindless junk mail meant only to promote your company.
That's what circulars are for.
