Icons
Pictorial images used on screen to indicate utility functions, files, folders or applications software. The icons are generally activated by an on-screen pointer controlled by a mouse or trackball.
Imprint
The name and place of the publisher and printer required by law if a publication is to be published. Sometimes accompanied by codes indicating the quantity printed, month/year of printing and an internal control number.
International paper sizes
The International Standards Organisation (ISO) system of paper sizes is based on a series of three sizes A, B and C. Series A is used for general printing and stationery, Series B for posters and Series C for envelopes.
Imagesetting
A system that takes digital design file and produces film negatives that older processes require to make the printing plates. Sometimes this is referred to as Lino, after one of the first brands of imagesetters.
Illustration
A picture or diagram created to explain or clarify a concept. Illustrations can be conceptual, abstract or realistic.
Italic
Any slanted or leaning letter designed to complement or be compatible with a companion roman typeface.
Iridescent paper
A coated stock finished in mother-of-pearl.
Identity Package - Identity Suite
A group of materials designed and developed to represent the essence of your organization. These packages usually include some or all of these elements: a logo design, letterhead (stationary) and business cards, as well as other collateral pieces such as brochures or newsletters.
Image resolution
The number of pixels per inch in a bitmapped image measured in ppi (pixels per inch) or dpi (dots per inch). Low resolutions can result in a grainy appearance to the bitmapped image; high resolutions can produce smoother images but result in larger file sizes.
